At Opticology Eyecare we specialize in the fitting of Scleral Lenses. These lenses are specifically designed and tailored for your individual eyes. They are called “scleral” lenses because they completely cover the cornea and extend onto the sclera (the white part of the eye that forms the outer wall of the eye). The lenses holds fluid against cornea masking any irregularity and allowing for clearer vision by providing a smooth front surface. For dry eye patients the fluid reservoir may improve comfort. If you have had trouble wearing contact lenses because of an irregular cornea, dry eyes or other problems, scleral lenses may be a good fit for you.
